Life Perspective: Reviews & More

  I had a disturbing experience at Harbor Freight at Bellevue Place this past week. I have walked my  small, 4 lb dog Jack on the sidewalk and into a few air conditioned stores of that shopping center all summer long in the evenings, because it has been too hot to go to the park to walk an elderly dog.  Jack has his favorite stores: Petco, Dollar Tree and the Auto Zone a bit further down the stretch, and I frequently buy things on our walks.  Every once in a while we will go inside Harbor Freight or Staples. In addition to walking my dog, I try to check in on Bellevue businesses periodically to see if they have upcoming events that I can share in this column and on the Bellevue Area Examiner Facebook page   We have been inside Harbor Freight maybe 5 or 6 times this summer. ~ Firestone Bellevue Better Than the Reviews ~   I know Firestone in Bellevue has had some issues based upon reviews I have read, but I have used it for more than a couple of decades and had no reason to complain. I will admit I don’t get my tires there because I have found their tire prices a bit high, but for minor repairs, alignments, and mysterious dashboard alerts, I have found them reasonable and easy to work with.  Recently a dashboard alert came on my brother’s truck, and I took it to the Bellevue Firestone. They were able to make an appointment for the same day, take me in pretty promptly, tell me what was wrong… and they didn’t even charge me.  A couple of months ago, I took my car in for a different issue that required extensive body work which Firestone doesn’t do, but they were equally accommodating. In fact, they have been just about every time I have been there. I would definitely rate them a 4 or above.  Let me know what you think in the comments...

~ Best Buy West Nashville Fails on Multiple Levels; Call Center Is Worse ~ Remember the good ole days when you could walk into Best Buy and a knowledgeable sales clerk would answer all your questions, and if you had a customer service issue or other problem you could call the store and talk to someone who could help you? Those days are long gone. Now you will go to the store and find NO ONE on the floor (which was my experience last Friday evening), or you will stand waiting for help while SEVEN different employees walk past you without stopping to ask you if you needed any help (which was my experience at Best Buy Nashville West today.)  And heaven forbid you call the number listed for the local store! That “local” number connects you directly with Bangladesh or Central America where Suniti or Javier will jabber rehearsed talking points over you before telling you it’s not their department.
