While several major denominations had publications for their churches that listed events going on at churches in their denominations, there was nothing in circulation meant to cross denominational lines to let people know about the variety of Christian music events going on in Music City.  Working at historic Koinonia Coffeehouse on Music Row at the time, Darden was already printing a handout for customers with local Christian concerts on it. Christian Activities Magazine is 25 years old! I am both pleased and humbled to announce that Christian Activities is celebrating our 25th anniversary this month!  It was 25 years ago in October of 1992 that I first had the vision of putting together a Christian calendar that would cross denominational boundaries in Middle Tennessee. This has been a labor of love that I have always worked other jobs to support.  It has been a tremendous sacrifice at times but always so rewarding. With Craig and Amy Groeschel I finally got to hear Pastor Craig Groeschel in person last night when he and his wife came to the Hendersonville area of Nashville to speak at the local Life.Church campus. Craig Groeschel, the Senior Pastor of  Life.Church ,  was the guest speaker at a special Life.Church Hendersonville service on Monday night, April 24.  Groeschel and his wife, Amy, are founders of the largest church in the United States with twenty=six locations in eight states.  Based in Oklahoma City, Craig Groeschel is senior pastor of Life.Church although each separate campus also has a local pastor. Conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly died of cancer September 5, 2016 at her home in St. Louis. A constitutional lawyer, Schlafly was best known for her conservative social and political views, her opposition to the feminist movement, and her successful campaign to stop the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution in the 1970s. She is credited by many as the driving force that prevented the ratification of the ERA. "The Road Less Traveled" by Robert Frost has resonated with me since junior high. I have often taken the road less traveled in my life both figuratively and literally. Yesterday my hiking buddy Lisa and I literally took the road less traveled on the Hike for the Homeless opting for the longer walk even though she has a bad knee and I am having some issues with my hip. The 46th Annual GMA Dove Awards were handed out in 41 categories on Oct. 13 along with four special awards. I have been watching my life flash before my eyes the past few days. It started a couple of weeks ago when I was unexpectedly given one week's notice that my Christian Activities website was going to have to be moved within a week. For a year I had been told it was going to be moved to Word Press, but suddenly I had to find a new server and web designer. Under normal circumstances, this would have been the death knell to Christian Activities happening at this time, because my own circumstances are not normal right now. I am dealing with the aftermath of massive flood and water damage, recovering from living in a Microtel for 9 months, and putting up with contractors who insist upon needless delays, ridiculous shortcuts and sloppy work. I am also having to pay for many things Farmers Insurance is not covering: mold remediation, rotten wood replacement under my house and other repairs. A couple of thousand dollars worth of vet bills for a sick dog helped push me deeper into a bad ...
