US Postal Service Drops the Ball Twice in October: USPS Review

Image
In October I traveled to Oklahoma for my wedding and to spend a month on my honeymoon and with my new husband’s family. Because I was going to be gone so long, rather than simply hold my mail, on September 29, I filled out the temporary forwarding form online at USPS.com to have my mail sent to my husband’s Oklahoma address for the month of October.  I received a confirmation email a short time later. USPS Loses My Package Unfortunately, when I arrived in Oklahoma, I discovered my billfold with all my ID was missing. I had a hunch it might have fallen out of my purse in my car, so I had a friend check and overnight it to me. She sent it via the United States Postal Service and was told it was guaranteed to arrive by 3 pm on Friday. This would allow us just enough time to get to the courthouse, show my ID, get the license and make it to the nearby wedding chapel before it closed at 4. I waited on pins and needles all day, checking the mailbox while I got ready for my wedding, but

Apples to Oranges: Comparing Phone and Internet Services

Image
Comparing phone services used to be simple. You just compared landline carriers. Easy peasy. But now in the age of television, new phone, phone service and internet bundles, it is getting increasingly harder to compare the deals. For instance, the fast talking foreign speakers at Sprint tried to convince me I had to decide on THAT CALL whether or not to accept a deal on their new iPhone + extra iPhone free + phone service + plus a phone hot spot for my internet connection.  They talked over me when I tried to ask questions and finally disconnected when I asked the second guy to hang on for a minute while I thought about it.  At least the two people I spoke to at AT+T spoke better English and spoke slower and actually listened, but I still got disconnected when the guy named something like Jamai put me on hold to check rates. At least I wasn't getting a bunch of fast talking jibber jabber about setting up my second free phone for a with a hot spot RIGHT NOW on

Rover.com Fetches Another Bad Review

Image
Dog owners all know the feeling of needing to find someone to take care of their pooch at one time or another. Maybe it's a vacation, a visit by someone with dog allergies, a trip to the hospital, or a work schedule that does not allow you to walk Fido and Rex regularly. That's why many people turn to Rover.com for dog walking and pet sitting, trusting in the good reviews they see posted online. Sadly, Rover has not lived up to the hopeful expectations of many of their dog walkers or clients with dogs. Do Your Due Diligence Reading Rover.com Reviews While many positive reviews can be found where dog walkers extol the virtues of meeting new fur friends on Rover.com, it pays to dig a little deeper if you are concerned about the safety and security of your pet...and home. The reviews of customers on SiteJabber.com paint an abysmal picture with Rover landing a terrible rating of 1.2 out of 5 stars with 93 reviews, some quite horrific, including dogs left alone for 38 hours,

Stronghold Kingdoms Video Game Review

Image
Stronghold Kingdoms Castle Sim Global Realm 4 entry screen Firefly's Stronghold Kingdoms castle sim is a fun and frequently exciting medieval game of building, trading, strategy and warfare. This is definitely a game that works the brain . For my Stronghold Kingdoms review, I would give the game five stars except for the unfortunate fact that the game is full of annoying bugs that make the in-game mail system ridiculous and negatively impact other aspects of the game.  Stronghold Kingdoms Bugs These Stronghold Kingdoms glitches include, but are not limited to: disappearing scouts, pitch that can’t be laid, catapults that, when placed, might prevent your forces from attacking, and other glitchy game problems.   The game must frequently be restarted to get rid of the numerous annoying glitches. In addition, other players cheat, and although Firefly does make an effort to deal with it, these unfair activities continue and sometimes make the game more of a challenge for

My Big Modeling Adventure at the 2019 Southern Women's Show

Image
Outside the 2019 Southern Women's Show Before I tell you about my big adventure at this year's Southern Women's Show, I have a confession tomake. Many years ago, I was a hair model. Yes, there is such a thing. A hair model models different hairstyles and hair colors for people in the hair care and salon industry. It is a fun way to earn some free hair care products and the only official training I have had as a model... except for the beauty walk and pivot I learned in charm school as a child. (Insert guffaws and snickers here.) Kathryn Darden at the 2019 Southern Women's Show and with the TDOTHottie Be that as it may, I had the opportunity to strut my stuff again at the 2019 Southern Women's Show in Nashville, Tennessee this week as part of the DAN Talent Group Models and Talent fashion show on Friday afternoon, March 8 (which also happens to be International Women's Day). I got to work with some adorable little girls and some beautiful women. I

Social Media: What Your Audience Wants to Know

Image
When tackling social media, it is important to know what to post and what not to post. In my last article , I mentioned that no one on social networks wants to read "buy my product." By the same token, they don't want to read "retweet this," "share this," or "forward this to all your friends." Posts like this will be deleted and maybe even flagged as annoying spam. So how does a social media marketer craft posts that will get read and, perhaps, forwarded? Read the full article at Social Media: Top 5 Things Your Audience Wants to Know.
