Right after the total eclipse the sun came back out and the lighting crescents faced the other direction. A rare natural phenomena took place in Nashville today when we were almost directly in the path of a solar eclipse, and certainly in its path enough to get the full effect. A friend and I took Jack The Pap to Edwin Warner Park to observe the unusual sight and to enjoy things only seen during a solar eclipse. Using the solar eclipse glasses kindly provided by Twice Daily, and wearing my new once-in-a-lifetime total eclipse t-shirt, we watched the moon slowly make its way across the sun until only the corona was visible. The sky got dim and then darkened as if we were in deep shade and the temperature dropped a few degrees. I joined about 30 hikers had full moon fever July 22, 2013, as members of the Nashville Hiking Meetup joined Michael Hughes of Mountain High Outfitters for the July f ull moon hike at Edwin Warner Park..Jack and Shelby sat this one out since Jack was recovering from surgery, but it was the first full moon hike where I had not been scheduled to work in months, so I left the doggies at home and sat out on my own to meet the other hikers.  I took Jack on the Nashville Hiking Meetup's Full Moon Hike last night. I carried him more than half way because at his age, he is only supposed to get about 40 minutes of forced exercise. Blue moon inspires walkers and hikers at Edwin Warner Park Jack and I had a great time last night when  Michael D Hughes, hike leader and event coordinator from Cumberland Transit, led a group of more than 60 hikers from Nashville Hiking Meetup and other hiking and fitness groups on almost 4 miles of paved roads at Percy Warner Park for a special Blue Moon Hike. The large group spilled into three parking areas around picnic shelter 9 off Vaughn Road at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 31.  OK, so it's not really blue! Even at my young age I knew history was being made, and by keeping the scrapbook and watching the event on television, I was part of that moment on July 20, 1969. Neil Alden Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930 and he died on August 25, 2012 from complication from surgery on August 7, 2012, to relieve blocked coronary arteries.
