History of Contemporary Christian Music Celebrated at Koinonia Family Reunion in Nashville Excerpt: In the 1970s Nashville was already the center of country music and and the home to many churches and Southern gospel music. In the early 70s, urban growth combined with the hippie movement married rock and folk music to Nashville's country and church music roots to give birth to a new sound -- "Jesus Music" -- a phenomena which also took place on the West Coast. Open Letter from Former Muslim Majed El Shafie | Christian Activities

Image
Earlier this year Christian Activities carried an article about Majed El Shafie when he was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in July. El Shafie travels to Afghanistan and Pakistan seeking out those persecuted for their religious beliefs, and challenging their governments to change. Open Letter from Former Muslim Majed El Shafie Excerpt: These protests are not spontaneous reactions to a film. These protests were planned by extremists far in advance to mark the anniversary of September 11th and the film is a convenient and cynical excuse to manipulate ordinary, uneducated Muslims to participate in these appalling expressions of hatred.  Read the full letter at: Open Letter from Former Muslim Majed El Shafie | Christian Activities

More Muslim Violence in Libya, Tunisian, Sudan, Yemen and other Islamic Countries | Christian Activities

Image
More Muslim Violence in Libya, Tunisian, Sudan, Yemen and other Islamic Countrie I have been watching with great sadness as Islamic protesters are once again wreaking havoc across the Middle East. This time the ensuing terrorism is because of an independent film made in the US and posted on the internet that portrays Mohammad as a womanizer. The Muslim response has been to attack U.S. and German embassies, to burn American flags, and to hold violent protests in Libya, Tunisian, Sudan, Yemen and other Islamic countries where people have been killed and wounded. Some of the acts of Islamic terror occurred on the anniversary of 9-11. Lunch with Friends at Ruby Tuesday, Green Hills

Image
The first Ruby Tuesday opened near the campus of the University of Tennessee in 1972 the year my class graduated from high school. I remember eating at the one in Green Hills in the late 70s and 80s with friends. When a Ruby Tuesday opened at the Bellevue Center Mall. I ate there all the time with friends and my brother. Yesterday I returned to Ruby Tuesday on Hillsboro Road with my high school friends Mary Ann and Melody where we enjoyed the meal and looking at the window at our alma mater, Hillsboro HS. Since we gals reconnected at our 40th high school reunion , it was only fitting to eat across the street from our old school. It was a trip down memory lane and a delicious meal all in one. And with the Ruby Tuesday Garden Bar, it was also a fairly healthy meal . You can read about it at: Healthy eating at Ruby Tuesday

Can You Find the Mimosa Tree?

Image
Can you spot the mimosa tree in this photo? If you can, CONGRATULATIONS! You are doing better than one of Nashville's "professional" tree removal companies. I have given the Nashville-based tree preservation and removal company one week to remove the tree they talked me into "removing" and letting them cut down last year. This year they have failed to return calls or keep appointments for two months after I called them and told them the tree had come back. Now this "professional" tree removal company tells me they can't find the tree which just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Today they said their guy came out Friday when we did NOT have an appointment and couldn't find the tree. Now the owner says he is washing his hands of it. If they don't take care it it this week, I will be posting the name of this professional tree preservation and removal company which offers " full service" in Middle Tennessee but who CAN'T

Nashville Doll Club Celebrates 15th Anniversary

The doll club I founded in 1997, the Belle Meade Plantation Belles Barbie Doll Club , celebrated our 15th anniversary on September 6 at Shoney's in Bellevue. Four of the women in the picture have been in the club all 15 years. It doesn't seem like very long ago I was contacting "Barbie Bazaar" magazine about finding out how to get a fan club started and then contacting Mattel to get the application. The club was originally founded as a Barbie fan club but grew over the years to include other fashion dolls. Now the club is 15 years old. They have been 15 fun years! Whether it's baseball cards, fishing, dancing or dolls, hobbies are a great way to socialize and blow off steam. I recommend them highly! Pimping the Puppy: Putting Jack to Work

Image
This is my handsome little puppy, Jack. He is much too cute not to take advantage of it. I plan to put him to work, promoting my products! I have already put Jack to work selling eye cream. Keep in mind, I had a new puppy in the house and was not getting much sleep when this video was shot, so my eyes are almost as dark as Jack's! Now I am putting Jack to work selling my book. The book may be currently out of print, but don't you think I can sell a ton of books if I let Jack do the work? I feel quite confident people would much refer to see his cute little face, so Jack is now in charge of my P.R. department!

Even with my black cowboy hat on and one early-morning application of sunscreen for sensitive skin , I was in the full sun all day shooting for "Outlaw Country," and I ended up with a very dark tan on my face and neck except right under my chin. I am in the very warn red jacket and black hat. Trading on the success of the Jason Bourne films, "The Bourne Legacy" is the fourth installment in the Bourne film series, based on Robert Ludlum's series of books. However, "The Bourne Legacy" film bears scant similarity to the novel, and Jason Bourne only appears in the movie a few times through mention and his picture on television. In fact, "The Bourne Legacy" film is a side-story or possibly a spin-off with a new character very similar to Jason Bourne.
