Life Perspective: Reviews & More

  I admit it--I am a Christmas movie junkie. Every year I watch as many of them as I can. Starting in mid December, it is my goal to watch at least one a day and maybe 2 or 3 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. 2020 has been no exception. With Coronavirus lurking in the background and a still-undecided election not quite behind us, holiday cheer is perhaps more needed now than ever, so I have happily watched at least one Christmas movie a day since Dec. 13.  While I enjoy most of the holiday movies, some Christmas movies as better than others. To make the top five list the movie has to be family friendly and have a moral a little deeper than "they fell in love and lived happily ever after." A good story, at least decent acting, and traditional values are are required as well as an abundance of holiday cheer. Christmas music is a definite plus. The movie also has to be easily available for viewing on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or other channels during the 2020 holiday season. Here...

One of the best movies ever: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is the tragic story of Bruno, an innocent, inquisitive eight-year-old, and the son of a Nazi officer. When his father is promoted and transferred to direct the operations at a concentration camp, young Bruno is forced to leave his friends and relative freedom behind. Enclosed behind the wall that surrounds his new house and grounds, Bruno sneaks off for an adventure in the woods and to check out the not-too-distant "farm" he has seen from his window. When he meets Shmuel (Jack Scanlon), a young Jewish boy his own age behind the farm's fence, the wheels are set in motion for the movie's heart-wrenching conclusion. 'The Return of the Killer Shrews' with James Best, John Schneider and Bruce Davison This movie starring John Schneider, James Best, and Bruce Davison isn't very funny, and certainly is not scary, but it is campy enough to be entertaining, nonetheless, especially for former "Dukes of Hazzard" fans.   Christian artist Joel Smallbone stars in faith-based 'The Book of Esther' movie  Nashville Christian recording artist Joel Smallbone has been making a name for himself as half of gospel rock group For God and Country (formerly Joel & Luke).
