Miss California 2009 - Carrie Prejean

Image
Carrie Prejean, Miss California 2009, was runner up in the 2009 Miss USA pageant. Prejean rose to prominence when she answered a politically-charged opinion pageant question by doing the unthinkable - giving her honest opinion. Carrie Prejean was at the 2009 Dove Awards, and I had the opportunity to meet her and talk briefly about the incident. She told me she had not meant to offend but felt she needed to be truthful about her stand. She said she felt like she started off a bit awkwardly in her response but felt like she "finished strong." The Dove Awards and The American Idol Connection

The Gospel Music Association's annual Dove Awards are upon us, and it is interesting to note that four former contestants from "American Idol" are up for Dove Awards: this year Ruben Studdard from season 2, Mandisa from season 5, and Chris Sligh and Melinda Doolittle from season 6 have all been nominated for Doves. This has really piqued my interest in the connection between gospel music and "American Idol," so I have done a series of articles on different web sites looking at gospel artists who got their start on "American Idol." No Country for Old Men - Murder and Mayhem on DVD April 7

On April 7th, No Country for Old Men: Collector's Edition will release on Blu-ray and DVD from Miramax Films and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment release. No Country for Old Men is a set in the desolate wilds of West Texas in 1980. Tommy Lee Jones stars as Sheriff Ed Bell, from a family of lawmen. Although Ed Bell is apparently the hero of No Country for Old Men, he is only in about 1/2 of the scenes and is never involved in any action. The film's action revolves around Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin), who is a welder hunting near the Rio Grande. Llewelyn stumbles upon a circles of shot-up vehicles and corpses and finds a dying Mexican who asks for water. He also finds some bricks of heroin in the back of one truck. Realizing that he has found a drug deal gone bad, and that someone must have made it out alive, Llewelyn sets out to find the last man.
