Dove Awards at Lipscomb University--The Doves and I Come Home

This year's 44th Annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards Show was a homecoming in more ways than one for me. Not only did the Doves finally return to Nashville after a two-year's absence bringing with them all the friends I only see once a year at the Awards, but the show was held at my old alma mater, David Lipscomb University. It was definitely a nostalgic evening for me as well as my first time covering a red carpet event!

Also, Terry, the Getty Images photographer who was the official photographer for the event graciously took a photo of me with my camera. You know how all those celebrity photos have "Getty Images" on them? Well this is MY Getty image!

Choking on Honey: What to Do

Choking on honey: What to do Honey is a thick, viscous fluid which can become trapped in a person's airway. While there are many articles written about using honey to remove obstructions from the throat, there is not much, if anything, written about what to do if someone is choking on honey. I had an experience where I was choking on honey and called the paramedics. I couldn't even speak by the time I had someone on the phone. By the time the paramedics arrived, the honey had dissolved enough for me to begin gasping for air.  The main thing is to NOT PANIC and not inhale it deeper while it is thick. Honey will slowly dissolve and thin out. 'Naked and Afraid XL' and Mean Girl Cliques

I just finished watching the third season of "Naked And Afraid XL." I respect these people for leaving the comfort, safety and security of home to face unknown hardships in remote and inhospitable places. I wouldn't choose to do it, so my comments should be viewed knowing I realize I could not do what these people have done. In addition, I am aware that most of the action and dialogue takes place off camera. All my impressions are compliments of a cameraman and a film editor and the scenes they chose to share. A lot happens that that I am completely unaware of. With these two disclaimers in mind, let's talk about Mean Girl Cliques on "Naked And Afraid XL." Every girl comes up against them in elementary school. They become a force to be reckoned with in junior high and have usually become more sophisticated and somewhat nicer in high school. Even boys know their wrath, but the cruelties of Mean Girls are normally reserved for other girls. Not so on...
