Bodyguard Musical at TPAC a Nostalgic Nod to Whitney Houston



The Bodyguard Musical starring Deborah Cox and Judson Mills with Douglas Baldeo, Jonathan Hadley, Jasmin Richardson and more was performed at TPAC on March 21, 2017.

 Cox has a beautiful,strong voice that can definitely carry off the assortment of Houston's hits and turn them into her own. The musical deviates from the movie in numerous places while still remaining familiar. The back story for Frank Farmer is flashed out a little and there are a couple of twists. 

 The musical weaves in humor with drama, song and dance to create a palatable blend that makes for an  enjoyable evening. 

 There was a small cast party afterwards where guests got to meet Cox and other actors, and she was just as lovely in person as she was on stage.
However, truth be told, although I was interested in buying the soundtrack after the show, when it came right down to it, I bought a CD of Whitney Houston's greatest hits instead. No one can do it quite like Whitney did.

'Naked and Afraid XL' and Mean Girl Cliques

I just finished watching the third season of "Naked And Afraid XL." I respect these people for leaving the comfort, safety and security of home to face unknown hardships in remote and inhospitable places. I wouldn't choose to do it, so my comments should be viewed knowing I realize I could not do what these people have done. In addition, I am aware that most of the action and dialogue takes place off camera. All my impressions are compliments of a cameraman and a film editor and the scenes they chose to share. A lot happens that that I am completely unaware of. With these two disclaimers in mind, let's talk about Mean Girl Cliques on "Naked And Afraid XL." Every girl comes up against them in elementary school. They become a force to be reckoned with in junior high and have usually become more sophisticated and somewhat nicer in high school.
