Nickel Creek roots

In late summer 2006, popular progressive bluegrass band Nickel Creek (not to be confused with Nickelback) announced that at the end of the year, they would take an "indefinite hiatus" from recording together and their 2007 tour would be their last for a while. Band members Chris Thile (mandolin), Sara Watkins (fiddle), and her brother Sean Watkins (guitar) pointed to the fact that 18 years together made the process of being a band less "natural," and Nickel Creek felt time apart would prevent the band from having to actually break up.
