A Pure Country Gift with Katrina Elam, Travis Fimmel, J.D. Parker and appearances by George Strait - an Extra's view


I had the opportunity to be an extra again yesterday on A Pure Country Gift. This time we were taken to the Municipal Auditorium at 7 AM where we spent the day filming concert scenes. I brought a book again but ended up at a table with Sarah, Ashlin, Wendy, Kimberly, Ashley and Amber, and we hit it off so well I didn't have much time to read, even though we were there for 11 hours!

Actor J.D. Parker once again spent quite a bit of time with the extras, taking photos and telling tall tales, and we got to see more of Katrina Elam. Travis Fimmel passed through once, but there was no sign of George Strait. They served a delicious lunch from Loveless Cafe. You can read more of my adventures as an extra and see some photos at:

Choking on Honey: What to Do

Choking on honey: What to do Honey is a thick, viscous fluid which can become trapped in a person's airway. While there are many articles written about using honey to remove obstructions from the throat, there is not much, if anything, written about what to do if someone is choking on honey. I had an experience where I was choking on honey and called the paramedics. I couldn't even speak by the time I had someone on the phone. By the time the paramedics arrived, the honey had dissolved enough for me to begin gasping for air.  The main thing is to NOT PANIC and not inhale it deeper while it is thick. Honey will slowly dissolve and thin out. 'Naked and Afraid XL' and Mean Girl Cliques

I just finished watching the third season of "Naked And Afraid XL." I respect these people for leaving the comfort, safety and security of home to face unknown hardships in remote and inhospitable places. I wouldn't choose to do it, so my comments should be viewed knowing I realize I could not do what these people have done. In addition, I am aware that most of the action and dialogue takes place off camera. All my impressions are compliments of a cameraman and a film editor and the scenes they chose to share. A lot happens that that I am completely unaware of. With these two disclaimers in mind, let's talk about Mean Girl Cliques on "Naked And Afraid XL." Every girl comes up against them in elementary school. They become a force to be reckoned with in junior high and have usually become more sophisticated and somewhat nicer in high school.
