Tonight I got to experience a Victorian Christmas at Monell's restaurant. It was such a wonderful evening of good food and music that I wrote TWO articles about it - one about the overall event and one more of a restaurant review.

Tonight I was treated to what I thought was going to be a delicious dinner at Monell's in Germantown. I was partly right -- the dinner was delicious, but what I didn't expect were the live carolers and the Christmas candlelight devotional. This was one dinner that definitely counted as Christian entertainment....

A Victorian Christmas at Monell's - Fine Dining for the Holidays in Nashville


Located in a historic old home in the Germantown area of Nashville, Monell's specializes in great Southern food served family style on large tables where guests join other diners for meals like chicken and dumplings, spinach lasagna, pork chops, catfish and of course, fried chicken, all served in Monell's homey environment. However, once a year the old house is transformed. Garlands and wreaths are hung, candles and ornaments are placed, and a Victorian Christmas tree is put up. A quartet of carolers dresses up in their Christmas apparel and the menu changes into a sumptuous feast. The fried chicken is passed over for more elegant fare for Monell's Victorian Christmas.

Choking on honey: What to do Honey is a thick, viscous fluid which can become trapped in a person's airway. While there are many articles written about using honey to remove obstructions from the throat, there is not much, if anything, written about what to do if someone is choking on honey. I had an experience where I was choking on honey and called the paramedics. I couldn't even speak by the time I had someone on the phone. By the time the paramedics arrived, the honey had dissolved enough for me to begin gasping for air.  The main thing is to NOT PANIC and not inhale it deeper while it is thick. 'Naked and Afraid XL' and Mean Girl Cliques

I just finished watching the third season of "Naked And Afraid XL." I respect these people for leaving the comfort, safety and security of home to face unknown hardships in remote and inhospitable places. I wouldn't choose to do it, so my comments should be viewed knowing I realize I could not do what these people have done. In addition, I am aware that most of the action and dialogue takes place off camera. All my impressions are compliments of a cameraman and a film editor and the scenes they chose to share. A lot happens that that I am completely unaware of. With these two disclaimers in mind, let's talk about Mean Girl Cliques on "Naked And Afraid XL." Every girl comes up against them in elementary school. They become a force to be reckoned with in junior high and have usually become more sophisticated and somewhat nicer in high school.
