Edwin Hawkins, the four-time Grammy® Award-winning leader of The Edwin Hawkins Singers’ 1969 million-seller, “Oh Happy Day,” died January 15th at his home in the Bay area, after a bout with pancreatic cancer. He was 74 years old. For the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Bluegrass Legend Doug Dillard of The Dillards & The Darlings Dead at 75 Born March 6, 1937 in Salem, Missouri, Doug Dillard, a celebrated bluegrass musician also known for playing one of The Darling boys on "The Andy Griffith Show," passed away in Nashville on May 16, 2012, following a lengthy illness. Dillard's death closely follows the death of fellow Mayberrian and Nashvillian, George Lindsey, best known as Goober Pyle, who died on May 6.
