Cracker Barrel Charlotte Pike Looks to Coming Changes

Image
~ Cracker Barrel plans rebranding; Customers less than pleased ~  I stopped by Cracker Barrel on Charlotte Pike in Nashville at 6:00 P.M. on Aug. 24 to see what changes have taken place and find out what they know about the upcoming “rebranding.” It was nice to see both the interstate billboard and the signage on the restaurant have not changed. However, the parking lot was noticeably empty, even though it was dinner time. Only one older couple drove up and entered the building while I was outside taking pictures   Inside, I discovered that nothing has changed yet except the menu and some of the paper products.  The porch is still lined with rocking chairs and a couple of cracker barrels, the store still has an eclectic mix of tools and memorabilia hanging from the rafters, and the dining room still has collectible signs and what-not hanging on the walls. According to reports from people who have visited “rebranded” stores, most of the Americana and country feel has been...

Mark Sorrells Trio at Whitfield's Restaurant Tonight

Image
My good buddy Mark Sorrells is playing at Whitfield's Restaurant & Bar in Belle Meade tonight as part of the Mark Sorrells trio. Mark and I have been friends since 1984, so to say we go WAY back is an understatement. I learned a lot about publicity and promotions from him back in that day and it has been a pleasure to reconnect now that we are Bellevue neighbors. If you live in the West Nashville area and don't have Saturday night plans, his group is playing jazz and more from 6:30 - 10.You should definitely check them out! Find out more at: Mark Sorrells Trio performs at Whitfield's March 8 The Mark Sorrells Trio, based out of Bellevue, is playing at Whitfield's Restaurant and Bar on Mar. 8 from 6:30 until 10:30.The band will play their popular "Whisper Quiet" jazz and Latin sounds... {PUB}licity Bar & Restaurant in Bellevue -- a Review

Image
I visited a new restaurant in Bellevue this week called {PUB}licity. I went to support a friend who was playing their that night, but I ended up falling in love with their house salad! If I describe it, it sounds not to different from any other house salad but it was possibly the freshest and most delicious house salad I have ever eaten! The rest of the food menus was equally impressive. I will definitely be going back since a lot of food items were marked (V) for vegetarian. While not a vegetarian, I like to eat healthy and a lot of vegetarian food is healthy. I would give them 5 stars for the salad 5 stars for the menu and 5 stars for the overall experience. Oh, and the music I went to hear was Newall and Sorrells, jazz and blues, every Tuesday at  {PUB}licity Bar and Restaurant in Bellevue. Centennial Park Hosts Nashville Food Truck Association Street Food Awards

Image
Centennial Park is a favorite tourist attraction in Nashville, but for native Nashvillians, it conjures up memories of the old Harvey's Christmas displays, school field trips, and its bad reputation in the late 70s and early 80s. I had the occasion to visit Centennial Park yesterday with my friend Sharon when we kicked off the Labor Day Weekend by going to the Nashville Food Truck Association street food awards . Although the day was overcast at first and the weatherman had predicted possible showers, the sun was bright as the event got underway. It was a good day for sunscreen and for wearing a hat and sunglasses--I did all three. Food trucks of all kinds lined the roadway to the stage and people were in lines or sitting under trees everywhere to enjoy the food and music. Sharon and I waited for 1 1/2 hours in the line for the Grilled Cheeserie. While we waited for our grilled cheese sandwiches, a photographer with the Nashville Business Journal came by and snapped ou...

Squeezing Some Good Health Into My Day

Image
Healthy eating at Noodles After a busy morning writing, I met my friend Mary Ann Stasaski Liden at Noodles & Company in Green Hills for lunch today. I had coupons for free salads, so we decided to give them a try.  The verdict? Delicious! Mary Ann and I were recently reunited at our 40th high school reunion , so it was especially nice to eat right across the street from Hillsboro High School, our old Alma Mater. We didn't eat because I was full of delicious Noodles salad, but we did talk about the great Rodan + Fields skin care products and business opportunity . A little socializing, a little skin care -- it's all good!   Exercising in the Park After that it was time to work a little exercise into my day by walkin...

Facebook Shuts Down Huckabee Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day Page for 12 Hours Facebook shut down the Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day page launched by former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee for 12 hours on Tuesday, July 24. Enjoy a Victorian Christmas at Monell's: Christmas entertainment and food

Image
Tonight I got to experience a Victorian Christmas at Monell's restaurant. It was such a wonderful evening of good food and music that I wrote TWO articles about it - one about the overall event and one more of a restaurant review . Enjoy a Victorian Christmas at Monell's: Christmas entertainment and food Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 Victorian Christmas at Monell's in Germantown Tonight I was treated to what I thought was going to be a delicious dinner at Monell's in Germantown. I was partly right -- the dinner was delicious, but what I didn't expect were the live carolers and the Christmas candlelight devotional. This was one dinner that definitely counted as Christian entertainment....
