Hillsboro HS Class of 1972 at 45th Reunion  Hillsboro High School Class of 1972 Celebrates 45th Reunion Seventy-five or so Alumni from Hillsboro High School Class of 1972, as well as spouses and alumni from other classes, participated in their 45th Class Reunion the weekend of June 24, 2017, in the Green Hills suburb of Nashville, TN.  Events included a mixer at the Crow's Nest in Green Hills on Friday night, a luncheon and field trip to the high school on Saturday, and the reunion weekend culminated in a lavish party at a private home in Oak Hill on Saturday night. The poolside party lasted from 6 pm until it started winding down a little before midnight. The class of '72 reunion committee did a wonderful job or planning, organizing and getting the word out. The next reunion is already in the planning stages for 2022.  I taught in the public schools in Metropolitan Nashville for one year. It was ridiculous decisions like the following combined with a principal who didn't know or care how to support his new (female) teachers that put me on the fast-track out of teaching. It is also decision like these that make many parents choose to homeschool. Teacher to First Grader: 'Jesus is Not Allowed in School' On December 13, 2013, first grader Isaiah Martinez took Christmas gifts intended for his teacher and classmates at Merced Elementary in the West Covina Unified School District. Each gift consisted of a traditional candy cane with a message attached that recited the legend of the candy cane.  The Privacy For All Students (PFAS) coalition today announced they have submitted over 620,000 signatures to elections officials to qualify a statewide referendum allowing voters to reject the co-ed bathroom law (AB 1266) that was enacted by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.   Recently, the Hillsboro High School Class of 1972 held its 40th high school reunion on the 40th anniversary of the exact date we walked out of the Hillsboro High School Gym as graduates. Through some fluke, although my parents and brother continued to live at the same address for more than 20 years after I graduated, I never got an invitation to a reunion in the past. This year was special, because I was actually added to a Facebook group where I was informed about the reunion in plenty of time to plan for it. After 40 years, I was finally officially invited to a class reunion! In attending the Friday night and Saturday night events, I realized what it was I had been missing out on all these years. My father, William Allen Darden, was a Vandy man, and several other family members have gone to Vanderbilt University, so it truly saddens me to see Vanderbilt U. discriminate against religious campus groups like this.
