A few thoughts on school shootings from a former teacher The Parkland, Florida, school shooting follows too quickly on the heels of other recent school shootings. As a teacher for many years you can imagine that I take school shootings close to heart. They break my heart as I can picture precious little faces I have loved and taught sitting in seats, feeling safe in their familiar school setting. I think this was much needed. I only wish I had beard about it before it was over! Two-hundred and thirty-two years ago yesterday, on January 16, 1786, the Virginia General Assembly passed the Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom state law. Chevy Anz and cast perform "Blow Gabriel Blow" in TVP's "Anything Goes" The Tennessee Valley Players (TVP) are performing the classic Cole Porter musical "Anything Goes" at UT Knoxville's Carousel Theatre this week starring Chevy Anz as Reno Sweeney with Hannah Brown as Hope Harcourt and Tyler Padgett as Billy Crocker. With Craig and Amy Groeschel I finally got to hear Pastor Craig Groeschel in person last night when he and his wife came to the Hendersonville area of Nashville to speak at the local Life.Church campus. Craig Groeschel, the Senior Pastor of  Life.Church ,  was the guest speaker at a special Life.Church Hendersonville service on Monday night, April 24.  Groeschel and his wife, Amy, are founders of the largest church in the United States with twenty=six locations in eight states.  Based in Oklahoma City, Craig Groeschel is senior pastor of Life.Church although each separate campus also has a local pastor. "The Road Less Traveled" by Robert Frost has resonated with me since junior high. I have often taken the road less traveled in my life both figuratively and literally. Yesterday my hiking buddy Lisa and I literally took the road less traveled on the Hike for the Homeless opting for the longer walk even though she has a bad knee and I am having some issues with my hip.
