The Top 5 Christmas Movies of 2020

Image
I admit it--I am a Christmas movie junkie. Every year I watch as many of them as I can. Starting in mid December, it is my goal to watch at least one a day and maybe 2 or 3 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. 2020 has been no exception. With Coronavirus lurking in the background and a still-undecided election not quite behind us, holiday cheer is perhaps more needed now than ever, so I have happily watched at least one Christmas movie a day since Dec. 13.  While I enjoy most of the holiday movies, some Christmas movies as better than others. To make the top five list the movie has to be family friendly and have a moral a little deeper than "they fell in love and lived happily ever after." A good story, at least decent acting, and traditional values are are required as well as an abundance of holiday cheer. Christmas music is a definite plus. The movie also has to be easily available for viewing on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or other channels during the 2020 holiday season. Here...

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - Brilliant Holocaust Movie DVD Review | Christian Activities

One of the best movies ever: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is the tragic story of Bruno, an innocent, inquisitive eight-year-old, and the son of a Nazi officer. When his father is promoted and transferred to direct the operations at a concentration camp, young Bruno is forced to leave his friends and relative freedom behind. Enclosed behind the wall that surrounds his new house and grounds, Bruno sneaks off for an adventure in the woods and to check out the not-too-distant "farm" he has seen from his window. When he meets Shmuel (Jack Scanlon), a young Jewish boy his own age behind the farm's fence, the wheels are set in motion for the movie's heart-wrenching conclusion. Matthew McConaughey's Noteworthy Oscars Speech

Image
Matthew McConaughey may be best known for his many versatile movie roles from a buff dragon-hunting para-military type in "Reign of Fire," to a slick lawyer in "Lincoln Lawyer" to his latest Oscar-winning role in "Dallas Buyer's Club." Or he may have come to your attention for his many shirtless photos and partying ways. However, it appears Matthew McConaugheyis growing up and achieving more than a little maturity at 44. At this year's Oscars, McConaughey was one of few entertainers who stopped to thank God for his success and for teaching the actor about gratitude. Find out more at: Oscars 2014: Matthew McConaughey expresses gratitude to God Actor Matthew McConaughey raised more than a few eyebrows and garnered both praise and hate speech for thanking God profusely when he won the best actor Oscar for his role as Ron Woodroof in "Dallas Buyer's Club... DVD Reviews: Saving Grace, Confessions of a Shopaholic

Image
Another good movie and a questionable DVD from 2009! This time I take a look at Isla Fisher's movie Confessions of a Shopaholic' and Holly Hunter's former series Saving Grace ." Both had strong casts. "Confessions" featured Isla Fisher, John Goodman, and Joan Cusack among other big names and "Grace" starred Holly Hunter and Laura San Giacomo. However, both fell flat, especially "Saving Grace"... or did it? Due to an extremely poor marketing decision on the part of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, I will probably never know for sure. Here's my take: 'Saving Grace' with Holly Hunter and Laura San Giacomo -- Season Two on Dvd 3/2/2014 I love Holly Hunter, so I was filled with eager anticipation when I was offered the opportunity to review “Saving Grace” - Season Two. I needn't have bothered. Confessions of a Shopaholic' with Isla Fisher, John Goodman, Joan Cusack--D...

Russell Crowe's new 'Noah' movie to carry disclaimer - Gospel Music & Entertainment Examiner

Image
Russell Crowe's new 'Noah' movie to carry disclaimer The new blockbuster Hollywood movie " Noah " looks like a great film to me! Based upon the Genesis account of Noah and the Great Flood, the movie offers a stellar cast in a dramatic -- and TRUE -- end of the world disaster story based upon the Bible. But there have been complaints... Honestly, the Christian community clamors 9rightfully) for more wholesome, faith-based movies from Hollywood, and when we finally get one, don't you know there is some group protesting it! Now Paramount and the National Religious Broadcasters have come up with a disclaimer for the new Russell Crowe movie so no one's knickers get in a wad. You can read the story about the "Noah" disclaimer and how it came about at:  Russell Crowe's new 'Noah' movie to carry disclaimer - Nashville Gospel Music & Entertainment Examiner.

Childhood in India When I was very young, my family moved to India for three years when my father was stationed at the embassy.
