My Big Modeling Adventure at the 2019 Southern Women's Show

Before I tell you about my big adventure at this year's Southern Women's Show, I have a confession tomake. Many years ago, I was a hair model. Yes, there is such a thing.

A hair model models different hairstyles and hair colors for people in the hair care and salon industry. It is a fun way to earn some free hair care products and the only official training I have had as a model... except for the beauty walk and pivot I learned in charm school as a child. (Insert guffaws and snickers here.)

Be that as it may, I had the opportunity to strut my stuff again at the 2019 Southern Women's Show in Nashville, Tennessee this week as part of the DAN Talent Group Models and Talent fashion show on Friday afternoon, March 8 (which also happens to be International Women's Day). I got to work with some adorable little girls and some beautiful women.

I think I was their token "mature" model, but I didn't care. I had a blast! We did the whole runway walk, runway walk carrying a purse, and waterfall on the runway walk thing.

Choking on Honey: What to Do

Choking on honey: What to do Honey is a thick, viscous fluid which can become trapped in a person's airway. While there are many articles written about using honey to remove obstructions from the throat, there is not much, if anything, written about what to do if someone is choking on honey. I had an experience where I was choking on honey and called the paramedics. I couldn't even speak by the time I had someone on the phone. By the time the paramedics arrived, the honey had dissolved enough for me to begin gasping for air.  The main thing is to NOT PANIC and not inhale it deeper while it is thick. Honey will slowly dissolve and thin out. 'Naked and Afraid XL' and Mean Girl Cliques

I just finished watching the third season of "Naked And Afraid XL." I respect these people for leaving the comfort, safety and security of home to face unknown hardships in remote and inhospitable places. I wouldn't choose to do it, so my comments should be viewed knowing I realize I could not do what these people have done. In addition, I am aware that most of the action and dialogue takes place off camera. All my impressions are compliments of a cameraman and a film editor and the scenes they chose to share. A lot happens that that I am completely unaware of. With these two disclaimers in mind, let's talk about Mean Girl Cliques on "Naked And Afraid XL." Every girl comes up against them in elementary school. They become a force to be reckoned with in junior high and have usually become more sophisticated and somewhat nicer in high school.
